MasterCard Worldwide has announced the availability of its first iPhone app, in a series of free applications that MasterCard is developing specifically for iPhone and iPod touch. MasterCard ATM Hunter, immediately available for free download via the App Store, works in the favor of the user by locating the nearest ATM, while showing the way to get there.
According to MasterCard Worldwide, ATM Hunter leverages location-based technologies implemented in the iPhone and iPod touch to pinpoint the search. ATM Hunter also allows users to customize their “hunt” based on their unique banking needs – for example, if they wish to avoid ATM withdrawal fees. The MasterCard ATM Hunter app also addresses the needs of the physically impaired, by finding and displaying wheelchair-accessible ATMs. The same system can be used to pinpoint drive-through, or 24-hour-access ATMs, while the app provides helpful safety tips.
MasterCard ATM Hunter's main features include:
• Finds ATMs based on your current location.
• Finds ATMs based on any address or airport location in the world.
• Tells you whether an ATM is a bank ATM or an ATM in a local store, as well as exactly where it’s located, i.e., a grocery store, gas station, etc.
• Lets you search for your own bank’s ATMs when you want to make a deposit or a withdrawal.
• Provides you with the distance between your chosen location and the closest ATM.
• Filters your search based on the following ATM features: drive through, 24-hr service, wheelchair accessible, surcharge free, and deposit sharing.
• Provides you with driving directions and a map to the nearest ATM location.
• Allows you to share ATM locations with others via SMS.
• Gives you helpful tips on how to be smarter with your money and safer at ATM locations with the click of a button.
