Over the past few years, flash-based portable storage solutions (a.k.a. USB flash drives) have become more than simple devices, turning into customized items that reflect their owners' lifestyles and passions, including gaming. And since every shooter-fan out there is quite crazy about the launch of one the most awaited such games,
namely Microsoft's own Halo 3, the mimoco company, one of the most renowned manufactures of customized, limited edition and special flash drives has launched the Halo mimobot Series 1 Designer USB Flash Drives, whose design is directly inspired by the characters from the famous video game.

Produced in limited edition and in conjunction with Microsoft and Bungie Studios, Master Chief, Red Spartan and Blue Spartan are now available in mimobot form and come preloaded with various types of Halo content, including the mimobot soundByte application, artwork, excerpts from the upcoming Halo novel and a special episode of "This Spartan Life."

Much in the same way as many other products from Mimoco (the company has launched all sorts of customized flash drives, including a Star Wars series, a Happy Tree Friends series, a South Park series etc.), the new drives share pretty much the same form factor (6.03 centimeters in height) and are available in several storage capacities (namely 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB). Moreover, the drives connect to a host computer via USB 2.0, which means that they can attain maximum data transfer rates of around 480 Mbps.

The new Halo mimobots are available solely for pre-order (at least for the time being) and will ship starting with October 18. The devices will retail starting at around 50 US dollars (the 1 GB version) and up to 110 US dollars (the 4 GB version), but taking into consideration just how many people are Halo-crazed these days, they'll probably sell pretty fast (especially since only 5000 units will be manufactured).

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
