The Indian province of Bihar is seen in this image submerged in torrents of water, during some of the most severe floods to affect the area this year. The event began in early October, and are currently subsiding, to some extent.

The walls of water are responsible for drowning entire villages, killing both humans and their animal alike. Roads were brought down as well, and fields were flooded, compromising crops.

The new image of how the disaster looks like from Earth's orbit was collected by the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) instrument on the NASA Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) spacecraft. The view was collected on October 9, as the floods were in full swing.

The image shows water as blue, clouds in pale pink, vegetation in bright green, and the ground almost in its natural color.
