After almost two decades of actually building a new musical genre, trip hop, Massive Attack decided to come up with a best-of album.
The title says it all - "Collected" is the name of the Massive Attack's set of greatest hits.
The album will be put on a double disc and it will also include a DVD with all the videos produced up to date. The four previously released albums - Blue Lines, Protection, Mezzanine and 1ooth Window shall have all their highlights presented on Collected.
Even though it's a best-of, there are, however, new things - it is not just a melting pot for old work. Del Naja and Great Marshall, the two most active members of the group, are the ones working to put together the tracks and videos elected, making a two-disc artwork.
Another new thing on Collected will be the entirely new track - Live With Me, featuring Terry Callier on vocals.
It's also worth mentioning the collaboration for this set with other big names from the trip-hop family, like Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins, or Horace Andy.
However, Massive Attack does not take this to be a dead end; on the contrary, they have in progress a new studio album, expected to be released this year too, in collaboration with Elizabeth and Andy.
