Possibly a remastered version or the fourth installment

Mass Effect 4 is still under development at Bioware and hasn’t yet received its official name, but more details on the fourth installment in the series might arrive in the coming months.

Until then though, here is something that heralds its release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Major retailer Best Buy has just listed a Mass Effect title for both consoles, but from what we can tell this is just a placeholder. Instead of posting a release date, the placeholder says that a launch date is “Not Yet Announced.”

What’s interesting is the fact that the game is not listed as Mass Effect 4 as it should if Best Buy wanted a placeholder for the next instalment in the franchise.

The game is simply named Mass Effect and priced as a triple A title ($59.99). Could Bioware bring the original Mass Effect game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?

A Mass Effect Remastered Edition wouldn’t be surprising for EA

While we do not rule out a remastered version of Mass Effect, we advise our readers to take it with a tint of salt until Bioware confirms it.

Mass Effect was launched back in 2007 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so with the release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, it will go full circle.

Either way, it’s clear that EA will launch a Mass Effect game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the not so distant future. Best Buy may remove the Mass Effect placeholder, but since it doesn’t reveal any info on the unannounced title, there’s no real reason to do that.

We’ll be keeping an eye out any additional details on the matter and update the story. Can you guess what’s hidden under that placeholder? Let us know in the comments.
