We do not know much about the new Mass Effect title that BioWare is working on and it seems that the studio is not keen to make any official announcements any time soon, but the company is now looking for a new online producer for the series, with the ad suggesting that there are plans to expand the multiplayer functionality of the title.

The information about the position comes from Chris Wynn, the senior developer in charge of the project, and there are comments from fans who are asking for more details about the online elements of the title, although none are offered.

The actual BioWare job ad says that the chosen developer will have to “Create and champion the vision of the multi-player, connected experiences and online features of the game which respects the project leadership goals and be accountable for the quality targets and the results achieved.”

There are more details at the official Electronic Arts career site, and also there you can find plenty of info about the responsibilities and the qualifications required to work at BioWare and on the next Mass Effect title.

Unfortunately, there are no clear details about the actual kinds of experiences the online producer will be creating.

BioWare has said that the next title in the series will no longer feature Commander Shepard and the cast players have gotten to know and love during the trilogy.

The company might aim to also shake up gameplay significantly, so that the coming title will feel entirely new, or it might keep the mix of third-person adventure and shooter in order to retain some familiarity for fans.

Mass Effect is a big franchise for Electronic Arts and BioWare

The universe of Mass Effect was created from the ground up by BioWare, and over the course of three titles it has become one of the most interesting science fiction powered settings in gaming.

For the new title, the developers need to walk a fine line between delivering the innovation the community is expecting and making sure that the title appeals to long-term fans.

The BioWare Austin team has recently announced that it was canceling work on Shadow Realms in order to devote more resources to Mass Effect and to at least another unannounced IP, presumably linked to Star Wars.
