The game will expand on the ideas of the original trilogy

One of the stars of the E3 2015 press conference from Electronic Arts was the reveal of the new Mass Effect: Andromeda title, which BioWare is working on and aiming to deliver in time for the holiday period of 2016.

The trailer created for the title suggests that gamers will explore an entirely new galaxy using a set of expanded mechanics, with the Mako becoming important once again and a range of new characters to offer support.

The development studio has since delivered an official blog about Mass Effect: Andromeda, which explains that the title is designed to push the franchise forward without creating a full break with the original trilogy.

BioWare explains that it has been working on the new experience even before the final Citadel DLC was launched for Mass Effect 3.

Aaryn Dlynn, the studio general manager at the Canadian studio, and Yanick Roy, the leader of BioWare Montreal, are saying that "We knew we wanted to start with a foundation composed of the best parts of any Mass Effect game: exciting new worlds to discover, great characters, and intense action. At the same time, we clearly wanted to expand the definition of what you should expect from a Mass Effect game."

The company does not yet want to offer any clear details about the gameplay.

Apparently, there are some important choices about the protagonist, but he is not at the center of the recently launched trailer.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will use the full power of the Frostbite engine

Like almost every other video game created by Electronic Arts, the new experience is designed to use the Frostbite engine, which allows the team to deliver improved graphics and gameplay on both home consoles and the PC.

BioWare claims that the final quality of the experience will resemble what's shown in the trailer.

It seems that more details about Mass Effect will only be offered at some point towards the end of 2015.

BioWare might until then be working on another major downloadable content pack for Dragon Age: Inquisition and on the major new expansion for the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, which will focus on story moments.
