The multiplayer mode won't take precedence over the plot

After confirming that the new Mass Effect game that's set to be released in the sci-fi role-playing shooter series will have an online multiplayer mode, BioWare now emphasizes that it won't take away from the single-player story experience, so fans shouldn't worry about sacrificing the plot to take care of the online mode.

BioWare has been known for quite some time for its story-based role-playing experiences but the developer has started branching out, adding multiplayer modes to its recent titles, such as Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age: Inquisition, to more or less success.

While it was rather obvious that the next Mass Effect game would also feature some sort of online experience, BioWare confirmed last week, through the voice of its Senior Development Director Chris Wynn, that a multiplayer mode was going to be included in the latest role-playing game.

He also posted a job listing for an Online Producer that will help shape the online experience in the next Mass Effect but refrained from offering any specific details.

Mass Effect 4's multiplayer won't take away from the single-player story

Now, Wynn has taken to Twitter to shed a bit more light on the inclusion of the online mode in the future Mass Effect, saying that fans shouldn't be concerned about BioWare allocating more resources to the multiplayer than to the single-player.

He emphasizes that the story will have a massive scope and that players should just wait and see what the studio has in mind for them with the upcoming title.

"If anyone is concerned that online will take away from single player, I assure you that [single player] will be massive in the next Mass Effect," he says.

Neither Mass Effect 3 nor Dragon Age: Inquisition suffered when it came to the inclusion of their multiplayer modes, so it's pretty obvious that BioWare won't slip up and will retain its core strategy of focusing on the single-player story and then fleshing out the online experiences.

As of yet, however, not much else is known about the next Mass Effect, but it's quite likely that new info will debut at upcoming events like GDC 2015 in March or E3 2015 in June.
