Mass Effect 3 is set to receive a new downloadable content pack for its multiplayer mode, called Rebellion, at least according to Sony’s Hong Kong website, but developer BioWare has already dismissed the details that have just appeared.

Mass Effect 3 delivered an impressive experience back in March and BioWare has since released the first downloadable content pack for the game, in the form of the Resurgence DLC, which brought forth new characters, maps, and weapons for the multiplayer mode.

Before the launch of the already announced Extended Cut DLC, it seems that a new add-on is coming, called Rebellion, which will include quite a lot of interesting things according to a previous report.

Now, Sony’s Hong Kong website also posted a listing for a Rebellion DLC for Mass Effect 3, alongside a short description that matches the things we already heard about.

“The Rebellion Multiplayer Expansion opens two new fronts against the Reapers: Firebase Jade's jungle reservoir and Firebase Goddess on Thessia. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons as well as equipment, consumables, and six new classes: Quarian Engineer and Infiltrator, Vorcha Soldier and Sentinel, Phoenix Adept and Vanguard. The battle continues – hold the line,” the description said.

The page is now unavailable, but BioWare’s Chris Priestly commented on the issue on the studio’s forums, and he revealed that the listing is false and that its contents are complete fabrication.

“Sorry folks, this is not true,” Priestly said. “This is the internet and you cannot 'unsee' things, but the details in this are not correct.”

The BioWare man did say, however, that more news about a future multiplayer DLC for Mass Effect 3 would be revealed in the future, but he cannot say when that’s going to happen.

“We will have more information on ME3 MP DLC in the future, I hope later this month, but nothing more to be said now,” he added.

Expect to hear more news about Mass Effect 3’s DLC plans, both for the single-player and multiplayer, soon enough.
