The development team at BioWare has announced the details for the next multiplayer based event for Mass Effect 3, which will be called Operation Shieldwall and will see gamers try to promote as many characters as possible in a single weekend.

The overall goal for all those engaged with the multiplayer side of Mass Effect 3 is to promote a minimum of 50,000 characters while each squad needs to promote 3 characters.

Squad members who reach the goal will get access to a Commendation Pack while all the player base will get a Victory Pack, with a higher chance of getting access to a Rare weapon, as long as the 50,000 character promotion goal is met.

BioWare also announced that because of the players’ failure to take down 3 million Banshees about two weeks ago during Operation SILENCER, more of the powerful enemies will spawn and they will appear both with the Reapers and other forces.

The official statement from BioWare, coming from Admiral Hackett, reads: “Keep up the pressure, troopers. As you can see, N7 efforts to date have been bringing the fight right to the front door of our enemy. Our enemy is fierce, but we’ve got the might of the entire galaxy on our side. Good luck and see you on the battlefield.”

Operation Shieldwall will begin on Friday at 6:00 PM Pacific Time and will last until May 27 at 5:00 PM and will be offered on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

BioWare also announced that those playing on the PS3 would not see the promotion screen but would participate in the Operation and would be entitled to rewards.

The developer has not yet offered any official information on the next DLC pack for Mass Effect 3, which was set to offer new classes and introduce the Vorcha as a race.
