The fact that the mix between role playing and action game Mass Effect 3 includes multiplayer has been confirmed by the Australian magazine PC Powerplay, which is set to reveal more about the mode in its November issue.

For some time rumors have been swirling around the video games industry that one of the biggest innovations that BioWare was making for Mass Effect 3 was the addition of a number of multiplayer modes.

PC Powerplay managed to go to the Edmonton studio that BioWare maintains in order to get hands on time with the online part of Mass Effect 3 and has received additional information from a number of leading developers, including Casey Hudson, the man who is in charge of the entire science fiction based series.

Hints of the multiplayer side of Mass Effect 3 received some confirmation during September when another magazine, this time in South Africa, showed off the contents of a Collector's Edition for the game, which was listed as having an online multiplayer pass.

A number of sources inside the company spoke about the multiplayer saying that it will be cooperative and will allow players to fight shoulder to shoulder against the Reapers and their allies, with some competitive elements.

It seems that BioWare is creating a whole other story for the multiplayer element, which might mean that the mode will not include Commander Shepard in any way.

A versus multiplayer mode might also be revealed at a later time, pitting teams of three player against each other.

Mass Effect 3 will tell the story of an actual Reaper led invasion of Earth, with the players tasked to once again roam the galaxy and round up allies for the final, decisive battle.

Fans will be able to play Mass Effect 3 on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on March 6 of next year.
