Mass Effect 3 might not be out for another couple of months but one of the leading developers working on the franchise says that the team is already thinking about how the end of the story of Commander Shepard will be welcomed by players.

Aaryn Flynn, who is the general manager working at the Edmonton studio of BioWare, told Eutogamer that, “We want to make sure that if someone is new to the franchise they feel very comfortable playing Mass Effect 3. Certainly it’s a very polished experience. In the story it starts at a time with a very singular focus and purpose in the galaxy. You could say the previous games were just a preamble to this moment.”

Flynn went on to compare the new game to the Superbowl and how some fans are content with seeing that game and do not care about what went on before, during the regular season.

The developer added, “Fans want a definitive end. They’ll be the judge of that ultimately when they play it and see how we do that. Certainly, what this game absolutely does represent is the culmination of almost a decade’s worth of work for the studio and for Casey and his team in terms of exactly what we’re trying to do with the game we kicked off almost ten years ago.”

Flynn also says that even those who have been with the series and have consumed additional content associated with it, like the novels and the comic books, will have a few surprises while playing the third game in the series.

Mass Effect 3 will be launched on March 6 on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

The game has been revealed as using a new cooperative multiplayer mode called Galaxy at War, which will see players work together in order to save Earth from the Reapers.
