BioWare is celebrating Halloween in Mass Effect 3 and has just kicked off a special series of challenges for the game’s multiplayer mode, tasking players with completing certain objectives in order to unlock a unique Halloween banner.

Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode has become a much more dynamic experience after the release of the Retaliation DLC, which allows BioWare to update the online mode on the fly with new experiences and fresh content, like unique rewards and special characters.

Now, in order to celebrate Halloween, BioWare has kicked off a special challenge that tasks players with completing several objectives in order to earn a unique banner.

“Unnerving reports from the front indicate that the Collector reinforcements are more numerous than we feared. At this point, we do not know if our numbers are accurate or if psychological warfare is at work. We need to engage the enemy to assess their true strength,” the studio posted on its blog.

As such, between today and November 5, at 9am PDT, the Halloween Challenge is in full effect and rewards players for completing three different objectives.

Ghostbuster: Requires 5 extractions on Firebase Ghost or Firebase Ghost Hazard Zombie Hunter: Requires 7500 points against husks/abominations. Monster Killer: Requires 10000 points against brutes/scions/praetorians/banshees.

All of these challenges can be completed on any difficulty and with any type of character or class, so you won’t have to really strain yourself in order to unlock the special Halloween banner.

Considering this special challenge lasts over the weekend, there won’t be any dedicated Operation this week, like the previous Operation Valkyrie or Bloodlust, which took place in the last two weekends.

Expect to see more varied challenges for Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer in the near future, as BioWare is quite keen on keeping players hooked on the online experience.
