People need to be motivated in order to try out the online mode

Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode is a truly impressive and quite addictive experience that can deliver, as I mentioned in my last Gamer Diary, some memorable experiences.

Seeing as how some Mass Effect fans may have never played online or have just tried out only a few matches, BioWare has the tough job of convincing them to play with others.

The first step in this strategy was taken this weekend, with the first N7 Challenge Weekend called Operation Goliath.

In case you didn’t pay attention, it presented two objectives to Mass Effect 3 multiplayer fans: kill 1 million brutes throughout the weekend and survive an online match against the Reaper enemies at a Silver or Gold difficulty.

While the fruits of our labor will be delivered tomorrow, March 20, in the form of special equipment packs, it seems that the challenge was a big success, as more and more people have begun playing the online mode and tried it out on the higher difficulty levels.

This is great as not only does it introduce more people to the great experience delivered by the multiplayer, but also gives them the chance to try out their skills on more than just the Bronze challenge level.

The latter aspect is even more important, as playing on Silver or Gold requires a bigger team effort than playing on Bronze. Sure, you can still run around the map and try to take on enemies by yourself, but it’s much easier, both for you and for your squad mates, to stick together and cover one another.

Hopefully, BioWare will continue with these special N7 Challenges in order to keep fans interested in the multiplayer mode for a long time.
