Mass Effect 3 delivers the same great experience as its predecessors

Mass Effect 3 is finally out in North America and is gearing up for release in Europe on Friday, March 9.

We’ve already begun talking about BioWare’s stunning role playing shooter yesterday when we tackled the opening tutorial.

While the game’s first chapter didn’t really impress, the following ones managed to bring back the same feeling you got from previous Mass Effect game, with combat and dialog mixing together to produce a thoroughly impressive result.

Those who’ve yet to get past the opening chapter should avoid reading below, as spoilers are present.

After leaving Earth, Commander Shepard heads to Mars under Admiral Hackett’s orders, where she needs to meet up with former companion Liara T’Soni.

As you can imagine, it’s not a simple mission, as the human colony on Mars is being invaded and slaughtered by Cerberus troops.

This is when Mass Effect 3 starts following its classic recipe, allowing you to engage in intense third person shooter fights, with the option to guide your companions and make use of their special powers.

Shooting feels even tighter than in the second game and, in case you run out of bullets, Shepard’s new melee attacks, as well as the grenades that make a return from the first game, should certainly give you plenty of ways to dispose of your enemies.

Dialog once again feels lifelike, as characters don’t just stand face to face with each other. Instead, they walk around and their movements actually make the scenes even more believable.

In my mind, this is what Mass Effect 3 is all about. Sure, there are plenty of other third person shooters that deliver better experiences and better RPGs with more fleshed out dialogs. This great blend delivered by BioWare, however, is hard to replicate, so it’s great to experience it once again.

Mass Effect 3 is currently out on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America. European gamers get it later this week, on March 9.
