Both the Geth Infiltrator and Engineer are great characters with impressive powers

Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer received an array of new characters last week with the introduction of the Resurgence Pack DLC.

Besides the Krogan Battlemaster Vanguard, I’ve also unlocked the two Geth characters that are included in the add-on, in the form of the Engineer and the Infiltrator.

First up, a bit of friendly advice for those who decide to play Geth characters: pick a vibrant color while customizing your characters and try to avoid things like white, yellow, red, or black, unless you want to be shot at by your teammates. After almost a month battling Geth characters as enemies, plenty of players, myself included, always start shooting when seeing a Geth near us, especially one that’s just getting uncloaked, like the Infiltrator.

Both characters wield a very special ability called Hunter Mode. This gives them movement speed, allows them to see through walls, and boosts their damage output. In turn, they sacrifice shield strength and are more vulnerable to enemy fire.

This ability is really fun to use but you must know your maps inside and out, as hiding once enemies start shooting at you is crucial. Always check out your surroundings by using the see-through-walls ability and make sure you’ll never be ambushed by enemies, as the decreased shields means you’ll die after taking just a few shots.

The Geth Engineer is particularly fun, largely because he (or maybe it?) can throw a Geth turret wherever he wants, which shoots at enemies and also recharges the shields of nearby allies. This can further increases the support role of the engineer and, when combined with the Overload attack, can keep enemies distracted.

The Infiltrator isn’t that well equipped, as his two extra skills are Tactical Cloak, as always for a sniper like him, and Proximity Mine.

I’ve seen some players combine the increased damage of Hunter Mode, with the damage boost from the Tactical Cloak and execute area-of-effect melee attacks on unsuspecting groups of enemies, but this is a dangerous approach for someone that’s just starting to play Mass Effect 3 online.

Even so, combining the damage boost from the Hunter Mode with the boost given by the Tactical Cloak makes the Geth Infiltrator deadly with a proper sniper rifle. Combine its see-through-walls ability with a sniper that can pierce small objects and you're basically "cheating".

Have you tried out the Geth characters or are you still waiting to unlock them?
