Microsoft has decided to properly celebrate the release of the Mass Effect 3 demo later this month and has confirmed that free Xbox Live Gold access will be offered to all Xbox 360 consoles owners, so that they can experience everything the demo has to offer.

BioWare is getting ready to release a demo for Mass Effect 3 in a couple of weeks on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Through it, the studio will showcase both a single-player mission, as well as the cooperative Galaxy at War mode with two special maps.

The demo is set to appear on all of the aforementioned platforms on February 14, when players can access the single-player content. On February 17, the co-op mode will be opened up to regular gamers.

Those who got Battlefield 3 and activated its online pass would be rewarded with access to Galaxy at War right from the get-go, on February 14.

In order to allow all of its Xbox 360 owners access to the multiplayer co-op mode, Microsoft has confirmed that a free Xbox Live Gold trial period will also be held. This means gamers will be able to try out the Galaxy at War portion of the demo, as well as the rest of the benefits that are usually reserved for Gold members.

"In celebration of ME3, Xbox is pleased to provide fans access to ME3 demo multiplayer for the time leading to launch," Microsoft said. "Xbox LIVE Gold gives you exclusive benefits including multiplayer gaming, member-only deals & previews, and access to entertainment with Netflix, ESPN, Hulu Plus and more."

Do bear in mind that this Gold membership will be temporary and that a specific duration or other details have yet to be revealed. Either way, you can expect some more details about the Mass Effect 3 demo and its actual contents, not to mention this special promotional scheme on the Xbox 360, in the near future.
