Video game developer Overhaul Games has announced that Sam Hulick will be the composer tasked with adding new, original music tracks to the upcoming Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition.

Sam Hulick is best known for the work he has done on the Mass Effect series from BioWare, where he has worked on all three core titles and has added the music required to flesh out the science fiction world and the conflicts embedded in it.

For Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition the composer will create all-new tracks to accompany the new content that Overhaul Games plans to add and will mix well with the acclaimed classic soundtrack that long-time fans already know.

Sam Hulick stated when the announcement was made that, “The music of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II was a huge inspiration for me as a composer who was just venturing forth into the world of writing music for games. So to be able to travel back in time, so to speak, and score original material for the Baldur's Gate saga is a dream come true for me.”

Since the Enhanced Edition for Baldur’s Gate was announced, the development team at Overhaul Games said that it planned to add new content to the game, from new characters to new areas to explore and new quests to solve.

The developers have not detailed exactly what they will add to the game or how it will slot into the already existing game experience, given the fact that Baldur’s Gate is a classic title and the fan base might object to any addition that is not of the same quality.

The Enhanced Edition of Baldur’s Gate will be launched on the PC, the Mac and iOS device during the summer, and the team has said that they are interested in actually creating a full sequel as long as their first releases are commercially successful.
