The full pledged version of Mass Effect 2 on the PlayStation 3 will look noticeably better than the previously released demo, currently available on the PlayStation Store.
PlayStation 3 Mass Effect fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the franchise on the Sony console, and they finally had a taste of it through
a demo released back in December.
Right before that, BioWare, its developer, said that the game would be
based on the optimized engine of the future Mass Effect 3, so people were anticipating a lot of differences between the PS3 edition and the already-released PC or Xbox 360 ones.
Many comparisons were immediately made and PS3 owners were a bit disappointed, because there weren't a lot of differences.
BioWare insists, however, that the final game, set to be released tomorrow in North America, will look better than the demo, as that was based on a 2-month old build.
"The demo was, for certification and testing reasons, about a 2 month older build than the final 'what you will play when you get it home' version," said BioWare's community coordinator Chris Priestly on the PlayStation Blog.
"I think you'll see that the game is noticeably better at launch."
Priestly emphasized last week that the PS3 version of
Mass Effect 2 was more than just a simple port of the PC or Xbox 360 editions.
"I think Mass Effect fans on the PS3 will be most appreciative of is that this is not a simple port. The Mass Effect team has taken the time to utilize the PS3 hardware to the fullest in order to maximize your gameplay experience," said Priestly.
Mass Effect 2 is set to be released tomorrow on the PlayStation 3 in North America, and January 21, in Europe.
The game will feature an interactive comic that will share the events of the original title, as well as allow players to make choices that will have an effect on their actual playthrough.
