After revealing last week that the PlayStation 3 edition of Mass Effect 2 has a few issues, specifically with the save games and their subsequent corruption after crashes, BioWare has detailed what the upcoming patch will include.

Even if PS3 owners eagerly awaited Mass Effect 2 for quite some time, it seems that the game does have a few problems, some of which being so serious that they led to complete save game corruptions, ending the playthroughs of many people.

BioWare has been aware of the problems, and already revealed that it has developed a patch which is now currently at Sony for testing and verifying, before being released onto the PlayStation Network.

BioWare Community Manager Chris Priestly talked to fans on the forum of the game, detailing both the patch the progress of its delivery.

"First, we are sorry some of you have had problems playing Mass Effect 2 on the Playstation 3 and want to thank you all for providing feedback on our forums on both the freezing and resulting save game issue that some of you have experienced," Priestly said. "The information and support you have provided has helped the development team to build the latest patch."

Check out the patch notes below to see what the update will bring.

-Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games. -Slightly improved load times and level streaming. -Added some telemetry to better improve future titles. -Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes. -Fixed the picture frame in Shepard’s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis. -Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard’s Cabin.

For those that want to keep playing even before the patch is out, BioWare advises to simply restart the game every few hours, in order to ensure that it won't crash and subsequently corrupt your save games.

"There is a very simple work around to ensure the freezing and corruption issues are minimized. Simply restart your game every few hours. By shutting down and restarting your game, you will not encounter the corrupted save issue," said Priestly.

Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3 has been launched at the beginning of the month, and finally brings the BioWare RPG to the platform, after almost a year of waiting.
