Mass Effect 2's last piece of downloadable content, as confirmed by BioWare last month, has just been leaked by an update issued for the PlayStation 3 edition of the game.

Mass Effect 2 will be getting its last expansion in the following months, in order to bridge the gap between the current game and the upcoming Mass Effect 3 title, which will arrive at the end of the year.

BioWare confirmed its appearance earlier this year, but declined offering any details about the DLC.

Now, through the release of a new patch for the PlayStation 3 edition of the game, the DLC has received its first few pieces of information.

According to the trophies added by the patch, the new Mass Effect 2 add-on is called ‘Arrival’ and brings three new challenges for the players to overcome.

The Ultimate Sacrifice trophy is unlocked once you complete the Arrival DLC, Last Stand if you survive all five waves in the battle for Objective Rho, and Covert Action if you rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention.

The last character has received a few more details recently, through an update to the Cerberus Network, the game's online newsfeed.

The news article says that Dr. Kenson led a team that studied the Mass Effect relays as well as the dust trapped in the gravity wells around them, finding that the relays are actually much older than the Protheans, the civilization that was rumored to have built them.

The article continues, saying that her reveal was met with disapproval from the scientific community, who continues to believe that the mass relays were made by the Protheans.

Any player of the two Mass Effect games already knows that this isn't true, as the relays were made by a much older civilization of sentient machines, called the Reapers.

In the Mass Effect 3 trailer released last year, the Reapers were shown invading Earth, so the discovery of Dr. Kenson may play a key role in setting off the chain of events for the third title.

BioWare hasn't revealed anything about the possible DLC, but expect more details in the following weeks.
