BioWare has finally detailed when the Arrival downloadable content for Mass Effect 2 will appear and how it will bridge the events of the second game to the ones in the upcoming Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect fans have been wondering how the events in the second game will transition into the third one, which was officially announced at the end of last year, during the Video Game Awards.

Now, BioWare has officially confirmed that it will launch a special DLC for Mass Effect 2, designed to lead into the beginning of the Mass Effect 3, and released the first details, as well as the official release date of the add-on.

“All year, we have been extremely honored and humbled by the reception we have received for Mass Effect 2 from players around the world, including our post release DLC,” said Casey Hudson, executive producer, Mass Effect series. “Mass Effect: Arrival is an exciting extension to Mass Effect 2 and will show players just how close the Reapers are to returning and completing their deadly harvest.”

According to the Canadian developer, the Arrival DLC will see protagonist Commander Shephard be sent to the edge of the galaxy in order to rescue an undercover operative who may have evidence about an imminent Reaper invasion.

A big role in the new DLC will be played by Admiral Hackett, voice by famous sci-fi actor Lance Henriksen.

The Arrival DLC will be launched on March 29 and will appear at the same time for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 2, costing 560 BioWare Points, $7 or 560 MS Points, depending on your platform of choice.

Three new achievements and trophies are included in the DLC, besides the adventures that will be experienced by Command Shephard.

As we saw in the trailer for Mass Effect 3, the Reaper invasion of the galaxy will happen, with Shepard's native Earth feeling the full force of the race of sentient space ships.
