Managed networking and cloud services provider Masergy Communications has acquired security company Global DataGuard.

By acquiring Global DataGuard, Masergy wants to enhance its existing managed security portfolio with adaptive network behavioral analysis and advanced persistent threat management technologies.

“This transaction is a win for both our customers and our employees. Masergy's focus on ongoing innovation and its commitment to delivering a superior client experience is completely consistent with our core operating tenants,” said Scott Paly, Global DataGuard's CEO.

“Together, we will accelerate our rate of innovation and service leadership in cyber security.”

Masergy’s Security as a Service (SaaS) offering now includes Unified Enterprise Security, which provides APT management, vulnerability management, a security threat intelligence dashboard, patented adaptive and predictive network behavioral analysis, security information and event management, intrusion detection, and monitoring and reporting services provided by certified security analysts.

In addition, the SaaS offering also includes professional services for comprehensive security audits, compliance testing, forensic audits, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and risk management.

“Cyber attacks are only going to become more intense and sophisticated -- it's a new battlefield. The acquisition of Global DataGuard uniquely positions Masergy to deliver solutions engineered to address these advanced persistent threats,” noted Masergy's CEO, Chris MacFarland.
