Word of a possible engagement first got out in December, when insiders told the tabloid media that Mary-Kate had been spotted out and about, shopping for her own engagement ring.
Nothing came of the rumors at the time. Us Weekly is now confirming that the two are engaged to be married, though, for the record, it doesn’t have the confirmation from reps of either but from insiders close to the couple.
If the report is accurate, some sort of official confirmation should come out soon.
Mary-Kate and Oliver have been together for almost two years, and they live in New York City in a gorgeous townhouse. The 44-year-old banker, half-brother to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy (yes, that’s why the name rang a bell with you!), has two children from a previous marriage.
The former child star turned very successful fashion designer with her sister Ashley is 27 years old, which is notable only in the context in which her age has been bought up a lot in arguments about how the romance with Olivier would not last.
However, based on photos of the two snapped on a variety of occasions, they’re madly in love. One such pic is above, of the two at a basketball game, which is actually a common occurrence as they are a fixture in the audience. They’re always kissing and hugging in paparazzi shots.
A spy tells US Weekly that they’re so in love that they’ve already talked about starting a family, with Mary-Kate being especially eager to have babies. She is convinced she’s found the right man for that too.
“Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids' special events. She thinks he's a great dad. Mary-Kate's family thinks Olivier is the best thing to happen to her. They love him,” the tipster reveals.
When Mary-Kate and Olivier walk down the aisle, you can bet it will be one of the most talked about celebrity weddings, because of her work in fashion. Mary-Kate and Ashley have long retired from movies and are now focusing all their efforts on their fashion house, The Row, one of the most expensive and exclusive in the industry.
