Showbiz just loves when a bad girl goes good all of a sudden and the same can be said about the 35-year-old singer who just came back on the music stage, with a brand new album, 'The Breakthrough' and a self-improved image.
After being honored as the queen of the charts at the Billboard Music Awards, where Miss Blige got to leave home with nine awards out of nine nominations, the Grammy Awards are also acknowledging her latest effort. And it's known that the ceremony just loves to give a good hand of applause and one of the most prestigious distinctions out there to artists who manage to change their image for the better (just look at what happened to Mariah Carey last year).
Also known is the fact that the Grammy usually take into account the most popular acts and maybe that is why there are many voices who already say that this year's nominations are unjustified, in what concerns certain categories, at least.
One unexplainable fact is that, although Mary J. Blige got eight nominations, her album that talks about fighting the addiction to drugs and toxic men was not even considered when it came to the biggest category, that of album of the year. Another oversight, maybe as big as the first one, was that the same happened to Christina Aguilera's 'Back to Basics', while Justin Timberlake's 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' got the approving nod and actually stands a very good chance of winning.
Other artists who were nominated in more than one category for the ceremony that is to take place on February 11th are the famous duo Gnarls Barkley, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and newcomer Carrie Underwood. See below the full list of nominations in the major categories, as made public yesterday.
