After weeks of teasing, Marvel Studios has finally released the first official poster for the upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger” – and it looks absolutely awesome, fans are saying on dedicated communities.

The poster made its way online some hours ago, as Coming Soon reports, and it’s already getting fans all hyped up about the film because it promises to be somewhat darker and bigger than expected.

It shows Chris Evans as Captain America, in full uniform and holding his trademark shield on the ground, in front of him.

He’s not looking at the camera though, but seems to be concentrating on something – like movie characters do before launching an attack.

This would be confirmed by the fact that he’s surrounded by specks of dust / mud, as if an explosion had just taken place somewhere close. In other words, he’s ready for action.

“Marvel Studios has revealed the poster for Captain America: The First Avenger, hitting 3D and 2D theaters on July 22,” Coming Soon writes.

“Directed by Joe Johnston, the action adventure stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough,” the e-zine further notes.

“Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America,” says Coming Soon.

As we also noted a few days ago, this first film in the “Avengers” franchise will focus on showing a Captain America that is, before anything, very human.

Skeptics doubted Chris Evans had the chops to pull off this part (not the physical part of it, mind you – there was no doubt he could do that), but, according to Johnson in a recent interview with Empire, he more than delivers.

In the same interview, Johnson also revealed that, unlike countless other comic book-inspired films out there, “Captain America” would break the mold because it would be a period piece combined with a classic superhero flick.
