Today Marvel released Guardians of the Galaxy: TUW on Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone in anticipation of the eagerly awaited debut of the movie which is scheduled to hit theaters on August 1.

The game doesn’t come cheap on Windows 8.1, as you’ll have to pay $7.99 (€6.5) for a license, but for this price you get options to unlock, upgrade and control 25 characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy universe, two different game modes, combo moves, multi-language support, and plenty of customization options.

“Join Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax in an all-new adventure– Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon! Jump into battle to help the Guardians recover the five pieces of The Universal Weapon before it falls into the hands of the villainous Ronan the Accuser!” the game description published today in the store reads.

The game only works on Windows 8.1 devices and also supports the RT version of the operating system, which means that you can also play it on tablets such as Microsoft’s own Surface RT.

All in all, such additions to the store clearly come in handy to those who have already made the move to Microsoft’s modern platform, so go download Guardians of the Galaxy: TUW for Windows 8.1 right now to experience its gameplay.
