As you well know, Loki is the Norse god of mischief and evil that was adopted by Odin All-Father, the ruler of Asgard. Loki uses sorcery to achieve his goals, being a very crafty and resourceful god. What he resents the most is the glory and acclaim given to his adopted brother, Thor, and tries whatever he can to get the throne of Asgard.
Even so, it seems that on rare occasions, when his goals overlap with the mighty Thor and other heroes, Loki allies himself with those he would otherwise detest.
