You couldn't tell just by looking at her, but Barbie is 54 years old. And she's going through a very serious midlife crisis.

Long story short, the doll has decided to become a Mars explorer, and has even put on a pink spacesuit to prove how committed she is to her new job.

According to Daily Mail, Mars Explorer Barbie was launched this past August 5, just in time for the Curiosity rover's first anniversary on the Red Planet.

The doll is the result of a collaboration between NASA and toy maker Mattel, and sells for $12.99 (€9.78). Unfortunately, it is only available in the US.

Commenting on the launch of Mars Explorer Barbie, a spokesperson for Mattel stated as follows:

“Ready to add her signature pink splash to the Red Planet, the Barbie doll is outfitted in a stylish spacesuit with pink reflective accents, helmet, space pack and signature pink space boots.”

Furthermore, “Adding to her resume of more than 130 careers, Mars Explorer Barbie doll inspires girls to be adventurous and to always reach for the stars!”
