It's been years since The Bundys completely signed off the air (well, not completely, because reruns on cable are still very common) but Sony has had the brilliant idea to bring at least part of the ‘90s sitcom back to life in the form of a spinoff.

Spinoffs are very much in vogue these days, with the likes of “Better Call Saul” or “The Flash” providing some form of continuation for the original story. While not all spinoffs are success stories (remember “Joey,” the “Friends” spinoff?), it could be that this one will actually be good.

E! Online reports that there are plans already in the works to do a “Married with Children” spinoff based on the character of Bud, played on the original series by David Faustino. It is said that Sony doesn't have a deal in place but the executives were thrilled by the idea.

The cast of the show was recently spotted back together briefly when Katey Sagal, the actress who played Peggy on the show, got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the following press conference, Christina Applegate hinted that there might be something new cooking.

At the moment, it's not known if the new series is going to star all of the other actors from the original show but fans are hoping it happens.
