Marlon Brandon personal collection netted a total of $2.3 million in the auction and the "Godfather" script from 1972 was sold for $300,000. Helen Bailey, a specialist in popular entertainment at Christie's said the annotated script, valued at up to $15,000 (£8,300), was "the star of the show".
"I feel humbled by collectors and fans who have spent so freely to own a piece of my father's heritage and history," Miko Brando, one of the star's children, said in a statement.
Among the 300 items on sail the bidders can found a photo of Brando embracing actress Rita Moreno ($600-$800), letters from Jack Kerouac ($5,000-$7,000), Brando's childhood school yearbooks and summer camp medals, musical instruments and boxing gloves.
