Windows Phone users out there can now enjoy a new feature in the Windows Phone Marketplace, one that should help them make sure that they do not miss applications important to them, namely Marketplace Extra.

The new feature was attached to the web Marketplace in an attempt to make the discovery of applications for Windows Phone devices an easier and more fun activity than before.

The new option is expected to prove of great help for all those who feel that there are apps in the Marketplace that might have been overlooked.

Moreover, it should help those who are new to the Windows Phone area, and which are not yet accustomed with what finding applications in the official storefront involves.

“Ever have the nagging feeling you’re missing out on some great overlooked app or game in Marketplace? Or maybe Windows Phone is your first smartphone, and you’re a little unsure what to download first,” Michael Stroh notes on the Windows Phone blog.

“I think we’ve all felt that way from time to time. That’s why we created Marketplace Extra, a new feature of the Windows Phone website dedicated to helping you discover handy, fun, and other pinworthy apps and games.”

Windows Phone users should know that various ways of discovering applications in the Windows Phone Marketplace were already available for them, and that the new feature is not meant to replace them.

It is only aimed at enabling people to discover much easier applications that might be useful to them by providing them with a series of reviews for software in the Marketplace.

Marketplace, of course, already comes equipped with useful automated tools for sorting and slicing our fast-growing app catalog,” the said blog post explains.

“Marketplace Extra adds the human touch: Each month a team of writers and editors—me included—will comb Marketplace for great apps and games to feature. We’ll also spotlight app news, reviews, videos, and more.”
