Clash of the Bergs on SNL: Mark Zuckerberg, Jesse Eisenberg and Andy Samberg
Clash of the Bergs on SNL: Mark Zuckerberg, Jesse Eisenberg and Andy Samberg

In what was definitely one of the biggest moments on Saturday Night Live, actor Jesse Eisenberg came face to face with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on the latest show. Andy Samberg was also there to describe the meeting as “awk-berg!”

Rumors about Zuckerberg probably putting in an appearance on the SNL episode with Eisenberg started the moment the actor’s participation was confirmed.

Still, nothing was officially announced, which only made Mark’s appearance all the more appreciated.

In his opening monolog, Eisenberg, who plays Zuckerberg in the critically acclaimed “The Social Network,” one of this year’s biggest contenders at the awards show, brags about being “cocky” and quite a ladies’ man.

He also mentions, as if by chance, that he was in “The Social Network” and that the Oscars are coming up, which is about when Samberg comes in, dressed like Zuckerberg in a green hoodie and wearing a curly wig.

All this time, Zuckerberg is backstage with producer Lorne Michaels, who will not believe him that he’s the real Mark.

“Why can’t I go in there? I’m the real Mark Zuckerberg! Come on. I invented Poking!” Mark asks, apparently annoyed by what the two are saying on stage.

“Yeah, and I’m pretty sure at least one of those guys is the real Mark Zuckerberg. You’re better off backstage,” Michaels responds.

Still, Mark does make his way on stage, where, after the aforementioned “awk-berg!” exclamation, Samberg leaves him alone with Jesse. More awkwardness ensues.

Hours after doing the SNL episode, Jesse Eisenberg was at the SAG Awards 2011, since he was in the running for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.

E! Online caught up with him on the red carpet and, as expected, had him answer a few questions about what it was like to meet face to face the man he helped bring to life on the big screen.

Mark is a wonderful person, the actor revealed, and he was more than happy to help them make the SNL episode funnier.

“It was wonderful. I was so happy that he agreed to do it. I could imagine this must be a strange experience, to have a movie made about your life,” Jesse said.
