American supermodel and Sports Illustrated trademark beauty Marisa Miller is one lucky woman. Some of her fellow models and Victoria's Secret angels may be complaining about how difficult it is to hold on to their
enviable looks, juggle their careers and their personal lives, hold on to their diets or exercise regimes. But not Marissa Miller, no - her only complaint seems to be the fact that she has a huge amount of underwear. Which some of the guys out there wouldn't exactly qualify as a serious problem but rather something they could learn to live with. Marisa is currently in Miami, promoting Victoria's Secret new swim line, and she was quite happy to talk about such things as keeping her figure, eating disorders popular misconceptions about her.
"There's a misconception about swimsuit models. We actually do eat. You need your curves," she insists in an interview with the Miami Herald. "It's not so much a skinny thing but more about being toned. I grew up eating healthy and clean. I box and surf and try to mix it up. Going to the gym can be pretty boring," she claims, adding that "I may be too curvy for high fashion. I'm actually encouraged to eat". Well, some of you would say that's actually news –
but one look at Marisa will probably tell you that this is not what a person with an eating disorder looks like. "I feel really sad when I see the whole eating disorder thing - even if you don't want to be a role model you're out in the public eye. At the same time, I think there are girls who are naturally thin. There's no way you could be living an unhealthy lifestyle and pull off this job. If I didn't eat, I'd pass out!'' she insists.
As inspiration for her life, she quoted fellow Victoria's Secret model Heidi Klum. "Heidi [...] is a huge role model. She's a very happy person, and definitely knows how to balance her family with grace and style," Marisa says. Despite the popular "models are shallow narcissists" belief, she insists that's not the case as far as she's concerned. "I'm pretty down to earth. In my private life I'm not an exhibitionist. I was really shy in high school so it's pretty funny this is my job now." Well, at least we're not fed the "ugly ducking turned supermodel swan" story again, which is refreshing. Notice Marisa said she was shy, not ugly in high school, which makes her story a little more realistic and believable. Enjoy some of her Miami promo shots, and stay tuned for more of the same.
