Nintendo has confirmed that their upcoming racing title Mario Kart 8 will be making its way onto players' consoles in May.

During a Nintendo investor conference, the company revealed some if its future plans, and Senior Research Analyst David Gibson was kind enough to tweet the headlines in real-time.

As such, the release window of May 2014 has been confirmed for Japan, and taking into account previous patterns, it is safe to assume that the game will also make its way to North America and other regions around the same time.

The game was designed around the notion of GamePad play, and a faster GamePad start-up will encourage players to play it quicker, without a TV.

Nintendo has also prepared an English version of the slides and statement, which interested gamers can find on Nintendo's website.
