Mario Kart 8 has been one of the best-selling titles that Nintendo has ever launched on its Wii U home console, and the company is planning to deliver a major update for the racing game on August 27, which will introduce a range of new features and will allow gamers to use three new Mercedes-Benz karts for their characters.

The new vehicles are the GLA, the W25 Silver Arrow and the 300 SL Roadster, and they can be seen in action in a new trailer that the company has launched.

At the same time, Mario Kart 8 players will be able to see the actual map on their TV screen, and there are plans to add an option to save the last used kart customization, something that the community has been asking for since the game was launched.

In addition to that, a record screen is being added, which will show total coins, character selection rates, the win and loss numbers for online records, and more statistics for all players.

Mario Kart 8 is a sign of the potential that the Wii U has at the moment, despite its smaller than expected sales, and Nintendo plans to once more boost the platform with the 2014 launch of Super Smash Bros.
