Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator behind hit franchises like Mario or The Legend of Zelda, has shared his wishes for the upcoming Wii U home console in terms of games, saying that titles in the Metroid or Star Fox franchises are a great fit for the device.

Nintendo is getting ready to debut the Wii U later this year and the company already showed off an array of games for it back at E3 2012 last month.

While quite a few big Nintendo franchises were confirmed for the device, including New Super Mario Bros. U or Pikmin 3, there was a distinct lack of other big exclusives.

Now, the company’s Chief Designer, Shigeru Miyamoto, has expressed his desires for the Wii U to IGN, saying that he’d love to see two big franchises on the new home console: Metroid and Star Fox.

According to the famous designer, Metroid would be ideal, as the Wii U GamePad could enhance the first-person segments.

As of yet, however, neither Metroid nor Star Fox has been confirmed for the Wii U.
