Some of Marilyn Monroe’s casting couch nightmares are revealed in a new book released by her former best friend June DiMaggio, the niece of Monroe's one-time husband Joe DiMaggio.
In her new book MARILYN, JOE & ME, June recalls that Monroe suffered for the unwanted sex session with Hollywood movie bosses. After such encounters, the diva often took hour-long showers
at her home.
"Marilyn couldn't afford emotions when she had to sleep with wrinkled old men to survive in the business. She had to protect herself by virtually turning them (emotions) off during those times - as if she were playing a part in order to remove herself from the horror of the situation. (…) When these highly placed, high-priced moguls owned her body and soul, she couldn't afford a life of her own", the author said.
"There were times, she told me, when she came home exhausted from a day's shoot and some powerful old geezer would telephone her and her skin would crawl. (…) After some of the horrors of her studio sex she would come over and stay in our shower for an hour or more. She wanted to wash away the terrible experience she'd had to endure", June DiMaggio added.
Marilyn Monroe’s death raises more and more questions. According to a report in the December issue of Playboy, June and other DiMaggio friends talked openly about a last-minute second wedding allegedly planned by Monroe and DiMaggio, and Monroe's last night alive. Some of the transcripts of the audio tapes recorded during Monroe’s therapy sessions reveal that the actress was not suicidal at the time of her death.
"Here is a person stigmatized by the diagnosis of suicide when that is an absolutely wrong, false, erroneous diagnosis", said former L.A. County prosecutor John Miner, who created the transcripts.
June DiMaggio stated that her mother, Lee, told her she was the last person to speak to Monroe on the night of Aug. 4, 1962. Apparently, Lee was on the phone with Monroe, when Marilyn screamed a name and dropped the phone. June’s mother took that name to the grave because she feared for the safety of her family.
The DiMaggio family claims that Monroe and Joe DiMaggio had planned to remarry the day Monroe was found dead. Marilyn had picked her dress, and DiMaggio had a ring for her and there was also talk that they might adopt a child.
