Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy in 1962 is one of the moments that have long gone down in history. For many it's the epitome of sensuality, even if, according to a new report, this is now how Marilyn meant it to be.

The Daily Mail informs that, while Marilyn was usually speaking in a breathy, delicate voice, this time she didn't plan on doing that while singing Happy Birthday to the President.

Joan Copeland, 89, the sister of playwright Arthur Miller, who was married to Marilyn, is now saying the diva had gotten lost so, by the time she found her way to the stage, she was completely out of breath.

This also explains why singer Peter Lawford introduced her as “the late Marilyn Monroe,” says the report.

“As she ran around trying to find the right door she ran out of breath – so was unable to sing properly – as she got to the stage so late,” the Mail writes.

Incidentally, by arriving late, Marilyn also created one of the most memorable moments in the history of showbiz. Check it out above if you're not familiar with it.
