By the looks of it, the marijuana industry is steadily growing in the United States. In fact, this business has grown so much that marijuana ads are popping up in newspapers.

The ad featured next to this article was published in the New York Times this past Sunday, BuzzFeed tells us. Apparently, it's the first ad of this kind the paper has until now seen.

The full-page advertisement was posted by Leafly, an online resource that makes it possible for people who have some experience with weed to rate and review different strains of cannabis and cannabis dispensaries.

“We want to help New York patients learn about cannabis and make responsible and informed consumer choices about the product best suited for their medical conditions,” Leafly explains its mission.

Furthermore, “Patients need a reliable, mainstream information portal about cannabis that is free of classic stoner stereotypes, and we truly believe that Leafly is the resource for them.”

While it is very much true that scientists are yet to fully understand how marijuana affects the human body, the fact remains that, as shown by several studies, weed can help treat various medical conditions.

Leafly expects that, the more people will learn about these studies with its help, the more public health in the US will benefit from the potential uses of marijuana to treat symptoms that won't go away with any other drugs.
