Many say that the once modest singer is now riding high on the waves of her own fame and reputation, by being excessively demanding and too self-centered to care about her fans, but her fans still love her as always.

A proof that, no matter what she may do as a person, she is still appreciated as an artist, was also the awards ceremony held Friday in Atlanta. Mariah Carey was, by far, the biggest winner of the night, taking home five awards, including the one for 'Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artist'.

The diva got to leave home with her arms full of trophies, all given out for the following categories: 'Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artist - Female', 'Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Artist', 'Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Artist', 'Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album' (for 'The Emancipation of Mimi').

Another outstanding figure that got full appraisal was Janet Jackson's boyfriend, producer Jermaine Dupri, who received recognition as 'Top R&B/Hip-Hop Producer', 'Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songwriter' and who became the first recipient of the Otis Redding Excellence Award, celebrating his achievements both in and outside the music studio.
