Singer says she’s working on a holiday release

It’s not uncommon for artists to release Christmas albums, especially if the sound they usually approach on their other materials is close enough to this one. Mariah Carey, for one, has given the world the now-famous “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” as her “lambs” must know. For her lambs too, the singer is now preparing another Christmas release, a song she will record and perform with her mother, she says for The Women on the Web.

With a new album out now now in stores, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” not many would still have time to record a new song, especially since there’s a lot of promotion to be done for the album. Not Mariah, though, who is already in the studio with her mother, a vocal coach and former opera singer, Patricia Carey, working on a special holiday release. Further details are not available at the time, but what is certain is that the song will drop just in time for Christmas – Mariah says so herself.

“I shouldn’t tell you this, but I’m going to record another Christmas song, with my mother. I’m going to sing in my style, and she is going to sing operatic, which is her style.” Mariah says for WowOWow. While the singer is OK with the media running this tidbit, she is equally adamant to offer more details on the song. On the bright side, Christmas is not that far away and fans will certainly see then if it was worth waiting. Hopefully, it will be even better than “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

When first husband and music mogul, Tommy Mottola, who was also the man responsible for Mariah’s meteoric rise in the music industry, insisted that she came out with a Christmas song, Mariah was opposed to the idea, she now recalls. However, she eventually gave in to his pleas and did the track that is now part of the tradition, for which reason she’ll always be grateful.

“When I realize how that song has become a part of Christmas tradition, it’s crazy to me, thrilling, humbling. You know, I didn’t want to do a Christmas album. It was Tommy’s idea. And I was all, ‘Please I’m a young girl. People don’t do Christmas albums until they are, like, 50. Some sort of last resort.’ But he insisted. ‘No, no. Do it. It’ll be a big hit.’ So I did and it was, and I’ll always be grateful for that.” Mariah further says for the same e-zine.
