Mariah Carey to Get $17 Million (€14.04 Million) for American Idol

According to husband Nick Cannon, American Idol producers don't have enough money to get Mariah Carey as judge instead of Jennifer Lopez. As it turns out, they actually do.

MTV News reports that Mariah is in the final negotiations with producers for the job and, get this, she might actually write television history if all goes well.

Mariah will reportedly be paid a whopping $17 million (€14.04 million) for just one season, considerably more than Jennifer Lopez got before her – and even more than Britney Spears, who signed on Simon Cowell's X Factor.

“If Carey is officially onboard, one big question remains: Who will sit next to her?” MTV asks.

Indeed, a very valid question.

Aretha Franklin recently said she'd be game for at least one season but, then again, so did Charlie Sheen.
