14 DAY TRIAL // In March this year, word got out that the LP of remixes of tracks on “Memoires of an Imperfect Angel” that Mariah Carey was working on had been shelved and that she’d focus on a new album. This, it turns out, will be released on October 20.
Mariah Carey has been working on a Christmas album, her second to date, which is also obvious in the title, “Merry Christmas II You.”
The worldwide release date is set for November, but fans in the US can get it as soon as October 20, when it will become available in select stores – together with lots of treats, Mariah Daily Journal informs.
According to a press statement making the rounds, the album will be accompanied by a special DVD containing behind-the-scenes video and photos, interviews with Mariah and details on the kind of effort that went into the making of the album.
“The album will be bundled with a 30-minute DVD featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Mariah Carey recording her second Christmas album, candid interviews with the artist discussing her inspiration behind the album and reminiscing about the holidays and favorite traditions,” Mariah Daily says.
It will also include “footage of her album photo shoot with acclaimed photographer David LaChapelle, interviews with Mariah Carey’s mother Patricia Carey and composer Marc Shaiman, and pictures from Mariah’s personal photo holiday collection,” the same e-zine informs.
Speaking of the album, Mariah herself says she considers it a gift to her fans (her Lambs, as she calls them) and a worthy follow-up to her first holiday material.
“This album is a labor of love – a gift to those who share my excitement about the Christmas season and want to fill this special time of year with heartwarming, festive and uplifting music,” Mariah says.
“This is the sequel to ‘Merry Christmas’ from me II you. On the DVD, you’ll see some exclusive behind-the-scenes moments of the making of this album, which are yours exclusively courtesy of HSN. Hope you love the album and the DVD! Merry Christmas! Love Mariah,” the singer adds.
“Merry Christmas II You” also represents a joint effort of the singer and super producers like LA Reid, Randy Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Marc Shaiman and James Poyser of The Roots, the same e-zine notes.
