Mariah Carey Working on Two ‘Memoirs’ Remix LPs

Mariah Carey officially returned to the music stage this year, with a new album heavy with autobiographical elements and aptly called “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” Despite the fact that the album managed to get critics singing its praises, fans were not that convinced, judging by sales alone. According to Mariah Daily Journal, the singer will try to “make up” for it by releasing not one but two remix LPs next year.

As of now, this is not official, but reports in the industry say that, in order to recoup some of the initial losses and to offer her “lambs” the perfect gift, Mariah is thinking of releasing two remix materials instead of just one. Admittedly, one LP will include R&B, hip-hop and pop remixes, while the other will be a dance material, coming only with Jump Smokers remixes of the original songs.

However, whether that is a wise move, in the context in which the original material has failed to generate the interest the record label and Carey’s camp expected, is yet to be determined. Voices from the industry can be heard saying that it would be best if she focused on a new project instead of beating an already dead horse for results that are impossible to achieve at this point. Mariah should accept that “Memoirs” did not perform as she would have wanted, learn from the experience and then move on to another project instead of drawing more attention to it, they say.

Still, if reports recently surfaced are even close to accurate, it would seem that the last thing Mariah wants is to drop “Memoirs” and admit it was a failure of sorts. As we also informed you just days ago, there are very persistent rumors that she’s considering taking “Memoirs” on the road, first with a tour of the US that will officially kick off this New Year’s Eve, and then perhaps with an international one. Like the two LPs report detailed above, this too is pending confirmation.
