14 DAY TRIAL // While spending Christmas in Aspen, Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon had to make a rush visit to the hospital, as he was diagnosed with kidney failure. Mariah tweeted the photo attached to this article, with an explanation of what happened.
The diva is always in Aspen at this time of the year, so it's no wonder in 2011 she also took her husband and twins there for some quality R&R.
Not all went according to plan, though, and Nick landed in the hospital – but at least he had his loving wife by his side to take proper care of him.
“Please pray for Nick as he's fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure,” the diva wrote on her official web page.
She first tweeted the photo with a funny comment and, when some fans reacted with outrage, she explained everything in a lengthier post on her website.
“This is us in the hospital - role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are,” she said.
She explained that, while the circumstance was definitely not a festive one, both she and Nick did their best to stay in the spirit of the holiday.
“We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.,” Mariah explained.
“We're doing OK but we're 'straaaaaanded in Aspen.' #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we're together, we're OK,” she added.
“I'm not trying to make light out of the situation because it's a serious moment that's very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers. LYM,” Mariah further said.
