Mariah Carey says Nicki Minaj did threaten to shoot her after American Idol confrontation

Nicki Minaj didn’t just yell at Mariah Carey and call her names during American Idol auditions earlier this week, she also threatened to shoot her. Mariah herself is telling that much to Barbara Walters.

The singer and the television personality spoke on the phone about the AI scandal that broke once footage from the set of the show leaked online, with Mariah noting that it has made her fear for her security.

As we also reported yesterday, the whole thing started when Nicki blew a fuse at what she perceived as a personal slight coming from Mariah, launching a foul-mouthed tirade on her fellow judge.

At one point, as she was walking off the set in the same fit of rage, Nicki said to no one in particular, “If I had a gun, I would shoot the [expletive]-ing bitch,” Mariah tells Barbara, as the video below will confirm.

Mariah is now fearing for her safety, though she doesn’t believe Nicki to be so deranged as to actually bring a gun to work. She does tell Walters that the rapper is “impulsive.”

In the same statement, the singer stresses that she’s “emotionally uncomfortable” about the whole thing – and working with Nicki, it is being inferred – but she will do her best to honor her contract and avoid getting into such fights from now on.

Admittedly, Nicki has approached Mariah to tell her that, despite everything, she loves her even though they will fight again. To this, Carey responded with “no, we won’t.”

After Walters read Mariah’s statement on The View, Nicki took to her Twitter to set the record straight: she denies threatening Carey, and stresses that there was no need for this “pity party” since they had already made up the day before.

“Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u,” Nicki writes, addressing Mariah directly.

“I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we've had since simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn,” she adds.

And, on a final note, she says, “All I do is compliment u. That's not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don't have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated.”

If this fight / feud is a PR stunt as some reports online are saying it is, it’s an extremely elaborate one.
