Mariah Carey is heavy into Photoshopping all her official artwork and she may even occasionally try to fool the world by using an old photo for a new one, but even she draws the line somewhere. In this case, we’re talking about the artwork for her brand new single.

It’s called “You Don’t Know What to Do” and it could be proof that Mariah’s record people didn’t “know what to do” for inspiration, because they simply recycled the photo that’s already on the cover of the album from which it’s lifted, the hilariously titled “Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse.”

Check out the photo above: you can tell that the artwork for the single is the photo from the album cover, with a new face pasted on top. And it’s not even done in a convincing manner.

Shortly after the photo came out, fans reacted on social media, letting Mariah know that, as much as they loved her, they simply couldn’t let her get away with this snafu.

Mariah, apparently, wasn’t on board with the release of this photo as official artwork and has offered fans the chance to make it better.

“That definitely was NOT my selection for the cover... ugh!,” she writes on Twitter with a crying smiley face. “Yes, I would love for you to send me your art for #YDKWTD ('cause at this point IDKWTD! lol :P)”

So, right now, fans are sending their ideas to Mariah and she’s reposting them on her feed. No word yet if she will also pass them along to her record people to actually change the artwork, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if it happens.
