As much as she likes to stay in the spotlight, there still are some things that Mariah Carey can do without the media knowing about them until she so desires. One of these things she did in April this year, when she and young actor and rapper Nick Cannon got married after just six weeks of passionate courtship. Another would be now, when the singer is reportedly pregnant with her first child, a secret that she has managed to keep under wraps until now.

After a brief stint at Aspen for the Christmas holidays, where Mariah was accompanied, of course, by Nick, the couple has just taken off to sunnier grounds, to the island of St. Barts to spend New Year’s Eve, amidst rumors of an advanced pregnancy. Although no confirmation has come yet either from Mariah or Nick’s representative, the source who ignited the rumor, PageSix, sticks by its story.

Apparently, at the beginning of the month, spies for the NY Post saw Mariah exiting a doctor’s office, holding what seemed to be a sonogram, and “being greeted by her entourage with cheers.” Since then, on December 9, and until now nothing much was heard of the reported pregnancy, but the rumor mill is again picking up speed as the diva is reportedly already making drastic changes in her lifestyle to accommodate the “new arrival.”

“Now we're hearing Carey, who married Nick Cannon in the Bahamas earlier this year, tipped off her expectant state when she cut down her strenuous fitness regimen,” PageSix writes, citing unnamed, but allegedly very reliable sources. So far, this is the only source to stick by the pregnancy story, all the other paparazzi agencies and tabloids keeping mum on the topic, awaiting for further hints before elaborating on it.

Mariah married Nick, as already mentioned, after just a little over a month of courtship, during a glitzy, fairy-tale-like ceremony in the Bahamas.
