As rumored for weeks, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj won’t be returning on the panel of judges on the next season of American Idol. It’s now official, with both singers confirming the news for fans on their respective Twitter feeds.
“W/ global success of “#Beautiful” (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol,” a note on Mariah’s Twitter says.
Minutes later, Nicki too confirmed her departure, though she did it in a more personal manner.
“Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!” she writes.
With Randy Jackson also officially out, that only leaves Keith Urban as judge. He recently told the press he had no idea if he’d be back but word online has it producers are looking to replace everyone – and bring only fresh faces, in a desperate bid to boost ratings.
